1831 - Spring time

Has anyone else been having to wait a long time for pictures to up load. These aren't that big and it took... OK, rant time is up.

Here's the saucer magnolia this year. It was touch and go for a few nights near freezing but it made it through, although I think the cold weather shortened the bloom time.

Two full bloom pictures.

Then a few days later, whooomp. Down came the petals.

They actually fell so fast that this is the one of the few times I've gotten a carpet of non decayed petals. Yesterday all the petals on the ground have turned brown.

Back to ranting. The grass is growing like mad this year. I may be out there long before the end of the month cutting grass. WHAT!?

Spring charged in here too. It looks like I'm in for mowing every week! Still waiting for the crepe myrtles to come out though.

Here in Disneyland-on-the-Potomac, it's been so warm that the famous cherry blossoms are probably going to peak long before the usual time, which will cause consternation for the tourists who gambled on the wrong dates.

D - Crepe myrtles will be worth the wait.

B - We were there one year and hit them at their peak. Dumb luck or smart Claudia? I think the latter.

EPT - It's always a toss up on whether or not it's going to get zapped by a night below freezing.
