One Bowl, Three Meals

There are billions of people and a version of normal to go along with each one of them. No two versions are exactly the same. There will be hundreds of thousands of little things that make up your version of normal. With any luck you can find people that have close to the same idea of what normal is that you do. These are your friends. Anyone else you try to tolerate as best you can. .... The exact definition of normal depends on who's running the asylum.

40?
My thought too.
So then I forgot to put the answer in the comments last night. 40 is right for normal people. The math geeks came up with several other answers.
And in case non math people don't get it, the trick is adding the previous answer to the obvious answer. I.E. 3+6=9+12=21
my head hurts
Interesting.
I solved it as:
1 + 4 = 1 x 4 (+1) = 5
2 + 5 = 2 x 5 (+2) = 12
3 + 6 = 3 x 6 (+3) = 21
so...
8 + 11 = 8 x 11 (+8) = 96
John - That's just one of the other more complicated answers I saw. There are other ways to get to 96.
Mentally I stripped my gears.
