5214 - Who knew!

I found this yesterday. There are three different kinds of dashes. This explains them and shows examples of how to use them.

Here they are and how to get them (on a PC)...
- Dash, just hit the dash key.
– En dash, Alt +0150
— Em dash, Alt +0151

I will be checking your blogs for proper punctuation from now on. There will be consequences.

  3. Mz Smarty Pants over here. Don't be surprised if, when you check my blog, to see six or seven em dashes. I use it so much that instead of Alt +0151, I set up an autocorrect. I type em and the dash automatically inserts.

  6. When I write, I start with a lot of punctuations in the margin, including various dashes, and then I use them in a random order in the text when I'm finished. Sometimes, I have some spare ones which are not used. - ? ,, " !

    God bless.

  8. I not only won't remember any of this, I won't use any of this and I'm sure I'll have consequences for all my improper punctuation and flagrant disregard for the Rules of the written word. *Winks*
