5369 - Secret rooms (mostly)

Well, not much to look at here today. I'm sending you away. Where? It's a secret.

I think most of these are pretty cool. I could do one in my house with a little extra ... WORK! Nevermind.

OK, here's one of them.

  1. Clever aren't they - but they would require a LOT of work. So they will stay dreams here.

  2. After retirement, work is indeed a four-letter word.

  4. Sue - They're fun to think about but that's it.

    Bill - Amen to that.

Deb - I built one for our previous dog to hide from the storms. And then he wouldn't go in it.

Kathy - Tony needed something to do, right?

John - Remind yourself of that before someone talks you into any new projects.

  6. If I had the money to build my own house it would have secret rooms and an underground cave that had a hot tub. lol

  7. Robyn - I think everyone has secret rooms in their head.

Mary - Come to St. Louis. There are homes that have access to caves through their basements.

  8. I would expect houses in tornado alley to have a hidden room aka basement hole to hide from tornados. Is this (often) the case?

  9. Stu - Most houses have a basement but not all. I knew someone in Texas where they can't have basements. He built a tornado shelter under his steps to his second floor. Some people build underground shelters in their backyards. I'm sure there are people that build underground shelters under their house, like a basement, but more stormproof.

About ten years ago a tornado went about 3 miles north of me. It took down several houses. One house was completely gone and everything that was in the basement was sucked out. The man, wife, and kid survived because there was a small basement area under the outside steps into the house that they were hiding in.

  10. Would love a secret space, unfortunately most houses in the UK hardly have room for the necessary rooms let alone hidden ones 🤣 (and not many basements - a cold cellar if you are lucky!

  11. CC - I've always lived in a house with a basement. I don't know what I would do with all my stuff if I didn't have one.

  12. I had a secret compartment on my boat that we lived on. It involved an illusion. The wooden panel that looked as if it was screwed securely down swung open.

  13. Cloudia - Could you hide in it?
