5364 - Yellow Mountains, China

The Wikipedia site says there are 60,000 steps on the trails. That probably doesn't count the boards.

Update - video at the end. Watch the guy as he unhooks both safety straps at the same time as he works his way along the ledge.

  1. Some stupendous views - but those stairs are beyond me. And some of them would have me clinging to the walls.

  4. In 2005 I went to China and walked on part of the Great Wall. I think that will be enough Chinese walking for me.

  5. Hard pass on that little adventure. I am going to have to live vicariously through someone that has bigger stones than me.

  6. Sue - You wouldn't have to do all 60,000. Just do 10,000.

Bill - Or video. I just added one.

Stu - I wonder if there is a weight limit?

John - 60,000 of them. All in one day, right?

Kathy - Watch the video I just added.

Deb - I heard the guy from the elevator hangs out in the bushes along the trail.

Matt - That guy is in the video I just added.

  7. Shaw - The guy in the video says, "Hey, if we had wingsuits we could really do some flying off this ledge."

  8. When in my 20s I hiked the Grand Canyon. I did it because I had a crush on the guy who "planned" this venture. (He didn't do anything really to plan it. I had no idea what I was in for). I invited a friend. We struggled and practically crawled as she damned me for inviting her. I got no time with my crush, who practically finished approximately 6 hours before I did. I did get intense soreness throughout my body.

Not to brag, Mike, but I didn't take 60,000 steps. I took more like 180,000, because my stride is so small. Never again.

    Cheers.

  9. Robyn - This sounds like one of those "fool me once..." times.

  10. CC - As old as I am I think even a little bit of vertigo that might sneak into my brain would be a bad thing.
