There are billions of people and a version of normal to go along with each one of them. No two versions are exactly the same. There will be hundreds of thousands of little things that make up your version of normal. With any luck you can find people that have close to the same idea of what normal is that you do. These are your friends. Anyone else you try to tolerate as best you can.
....
The exact definition of normal depends on who's running the asylum.

6281 - Far Left
I don't see much of the Far Left you hear talk about. I'm left of center but not nearly as far left as some.
Extremists are always dangerous and dysfunctional, whether on the right or on the left. There is an inherent predilection for authoritarianism in both.
I think the center has moved. I am farther left than I used to be, but I haven't really changed my politics that much. Maybe it's that the far right has dominated the right and the middle left still controls the left. Idk.
I've always considered myself to be left of center as well. As John A Hill notes above, it may be that the center has moved over time and what was once seen as "moderate left" is now seen as "radical" and "conservative" is now considered "liberal". See the concept "Overton Window" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overton_window)
Yes, both extremes come very close together in the horseshoe chart. We got to stop listening to The crazies on both extremes and go back to good old common Sense and consensus agreement and getting stuff done. I'm hoping this election Will deliver Us from maga
Amused that Marxists are calling for the abolishment of prisons. Didn't one big Marxist country have a lot of prisons in a place called Siberia? (Though to be fair, those prisons were there before and after Marxism too.)
I am also left of centre but not that far. Not nearly that far. And don't hear a lot about (or from) those who are.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am a bit left of center, although I reject the craziness of the far left as I reject the craziness of the far right. Both are dangerous.

Idk.
The center of any situation is the place to be.
