199 - Will these numbers rise from the dead?

Hey, did you forget what a dead relatives' social security number was that has died since 1965? Do you need it for some paper work that didn't get done? Not to worry. You can get any deceased persons ss# by following the link. It's public information. You just need a first and last name. Not that many names will come up and the name your looking for will be a quick find. (unless the name is John Smith, etc.)

197 - Quote(s)

I saw this quote in the paper today. Looked it up and found out it came from Daniel Moynihan

"Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts." (Daniel Moynihan)

Then I found the site below. If you like computer quotes this site will keep you occupied for a while. The quote above came from the "data processing" section.

196 - The worry map

Here's a map for the paraniod. It's called the Global Incident Map. It has every probable terrorist incident from all over the world. And it's updated every six minutes. Your heart rate may never go down if you keep this map up.

195 - Why do women cry, trying to direct men?

Question from AARP magazine. Answer from me. (it's a guy thing)(typos fixed)(more typos fixed)(edits)(this may be deleted if I find more typos)

Q. Why do men refuse to ask for directions until the woman starts to cry?

A. First making a woman cry seems to be a manly thing to do. So that's the first reason.
Secondly a man can't "ask" for directions because of the response he'll get. When you just "ask" you get "go down to the second blue house, turn left until you come to a gray mail box. Now that's not what you want but it's close so just go a little farther and turn at bubbas house. You'll know the house because he has three dogs in the yard. Your just 5 miles from the turn off to where your going. There's a big oak tree you can't miss. Turn left and your there.

Now for a guy when he gets back to the car and the woman asks, "what did he say"? His response, "beats the hell outa me"!

So the solution is to send the woman in with specific instructons. You tell her, "make the sucker draw me a map. Make sure all the streets and turns are labeled. Make sure there's distances marked between turns. Make sure there's addresses at the turns and for where we're going.

That will get you where your going directly with out backtracking for hours trying to figure what you thought bubba told you.

194 - What is parallel parking?

Think about it. When you drive up to a parking space that you supposedly have to parellel park is that what you really do? You actually parallel drive to the space. But when you back into the space you are actually in the process of angular parking. You are not parralel anymore. Once you have completed your maneuver into the space you have sucessfully serial parked since all the cars are lined up serially not parallel. So the proper term for this type of action would be trigonometric parking. Parallel, ANgular, SErial. Or PANSE parking for short.

191 - Opinion entitlement

I saw a tshirt today with what I thought was a funny saying I'd never seen or heard before. "Everyone's Entitled To My Opinion"
Then I checked google. 772 hits. Turns out there's a TV show that's been around since 2003 by that title. There are multiple blogs with the title. Everybody seems to know about this but me! Well almost everybody if you haven't heard it before. But that would just make two of us.

189 - Lapel and other pins

This is an excerpt from Kathleen Parker's column about Barack Obama. But it's a good stand alone point.

-------

There was a time not long ago when displaying one's political or religious affiliations — as well as one's affections — was considered seriously bad form. Today, it's bad form to be private, and votes swing on which candidate lays on the best kiss. From crucifix necklaces and fish lapel pins that declare "I'm a Christian" to colored rubber wristbands that convey solidarity with cancer victims and environmentalists, we've become a nation of exhibitionist symbolists. Competitive caring is the new national sport in which the victor is judged not by acts of charity, but by the number of bracelets stacked on his wrists. We wear stickers after we vote or give blood, and we plaster yellow ribbons on our SUVs, lest anyone doubt we support our troops. By making symbols fashionable, we've ratified boasting as an act of redemption and elevated empathy to an existential conceit. I care, therefore I am. I care more than you do, therefore I am more than you are.

187 - Economic quotes

The same people who laugh at gypsy fortune tellers take economists seriously.

Economists are pessimists: they've predicted 8 of the last 3 depressions.

The economy depends about as much on economists as the weather does on weather forecasters.

Economists are people who work with numbers but don't have the personality to be accountants.

183 - googling sentences

I was going to post another article link the subject being "It depends on what you mean by God". But I can get to the website right now. Must be down for maintenance. So I googled it thinking it might be cached there. It wasn't, but I found 4780 links to that 8 word sentence. So I thought what other sentences or phases might have a lot of hits?
my way or the highway - 303,000
what's this world coming to? - 25,700
can I have some? can I? - 31,200
What the hell are you doing now? - 9430
will you stop that - 10,500
You're not going to believe what I just heard - 9
Real Men Don't Ask for Directions - 942
women are - 9,350,000 (I know it's not very long)
men are - 5,240,000

Apparently there's more to say about women than men.
