Well here we are again in St. Louis getting hammered by tornadoes. Officially one went about 10 miles to the north of my house. Another on was about 30 miles to the south. I WAS SURROUNDED!!!!
Here's a map of tornado alley. That red spot on the edge of central Missouri is St. Louis.
Well, nobody was badly hurt as far as I know at this time. But, the St. Louis airport is closed. The tornado that was to the north of me went right through the airport. Most of the windows in the terminal building were blown out. As of now the airport is closed with no estimated time to reopen.
One woman and her 3 year old daughter were in a car in front of the terminal waiting to pick up her husband. She was on the phone with him (after he was diverted to Springfield) when her car was suddenly lifted in the air and slammed back to the ground. All the side windows blew out of the car when it hit the ground. Her daughter had minor cuts.
There were reports of 4" hail in the area. One forecaster who has been here 35 years said he has never heard of this in this area before.
Me? I got rain. Boring eh? Well not totally boring. Here's something from the afternoon storm. I had a tulip tree that I had planted about 4-5 years ago go down.
But the strange thing was that it just snapped in half at the ground level.
I think the poor little tree was probably doomed anyway. Time to go tree shopping.

Glad you came out with nothing worse than the snapped tree. As generators of terrifying and deadly wind, tornadoes are nearly as bad as Congress.
Now there's a terrifying question. Which would you rather have come through your area, a tornado or a congressional delegation.
Jay mentioned on the show today that you were OK, I was relieved
I saw video of the airport and it was beyond scary
sorry about the tree
stay safe!
The tree pissed me off because I actually bought it and planted it. And it was just getting to be a decent size. Oh well. At least it wasn't my house.
Good to know that you and your family are safe.
A - Just a few limbs down.
Guess it was your turn. Lat week NC had about 60something tornados and they tore our counties up. I think 30 something deaths??? Anyways I did a post about it. Scary huh?
