Monday was a fun day at the doctors office. I took my '20 something' son who was not feeling good to the doctors office around 10:30am. What's wrong? Not sure. Go to the emergency room so he can get checked out quicker. Right. We get to the emergency room around 11am. And sit. And sit. And sit. So around 4pm we get into an exam room. And sit. Around 5pm we see a doctor and get some tests. And sit. Around 6:30 we get an ultrasound. And sit. He has to be admitted. We get to a room around 9pm. This was one looooong day.
Tuesday around 11am they decide he can go home. And we sit. ........ Yes, he's home now.

I think they let you wait in the waiting rooms so long in the hopes you'll catch something for them to treat so they can charge you more.
I learned a few years ago that the secret to being treated quickly in an emergency room is to bleed profusely. I was trying to force open a casement window that had been painted shut, and punched my elbow through the glass. We zipped to the emergency room and were seen right away, as blood dripping on their floors is considered a biohazard and would probably jack up their insurance rates. You don't need to go to that much trouble, though...just carry a plastic bag of chicken blood or ketchup or something for effect.
I'm going to remember that one.
