There are billions of people and a version of normal to go along with each one of them. No two versions are exactly the same. There will be hundreds of thousands of little things that make up your version of normal. With any luck you can find people that have close to the same idea of what normal is that you do. These are your friends. Anyone else you try to tolerate as best you can. .... The exact definition of normal depends on who's running the asylum.

I suppose this can be interpreted two ways: either the Republicans are extraordinarily good liars and bad managers, or the Democrats are extraordinarily good at taking advantage of conditions created by Republicans. I'm more inclined to the former than the latter, although I have no use for either party, both having proven themselves to be power-grubbing clowns in suits, unwilling to compromise on anything for the greater good. A pox on both houses.
I also beleive the former of your two theories. It's hard not to look good after a long period of bad. Unless your the first Bush. He looks like he managed to pull off bad piled on bad.
