1288 - Mortified

That's me. I'm moving my PC from one part of the house to another. And in the process all my crap is getting moved with it. So now is the time to get rid of crap, right? Except that the old truth of 'If you throw it away, you'll need it the next day' comes into play. That's why it's not advisable to throw your stuff away.

Take magazines, all of them. No really you can have them. I've saved a lot of them over the years. I finally let go of my Popular Mechanics. I'm now working on Discover, Popular Science and New Scientist. The New Scientist is the hardest to let go of because it has so many good articles for blog material. I'm finding myself setting some aside because of the cover article. How long do you let them sit before you realise that your not going to post that stuff after all?

And what really pisses me off is there is one particular issue of New Scientist that I'm looking for that I can't find. I probably put it in a very safe place. It has an article about how people of different cultures are intermarrying and what the generic human will look like over time. I found the article on line but WITHOUT the pictures which 'make' the article.

New Scientist is one of those websites that lets you look at some stuff for free but if you want it all you have to pay.

HOW TO BE HAPPY BUT NOT TO MUCH

I should just pay and not worry about keeping magazines but I still like reading magazines better than reading a computer screen. All this being said .... means I'm done with this thought.

You will need those magazines. You're initial thought about needing them tomorrow is correct!

I heard a professional organizer once say that when in doubt put the items you are undecided about in your trunk for 6 months. If you do not go to the trunk to get them out then you will not need them so toss em!

I too love mags and books, but as soon as I'm done I hand them off to someone else to enjoy.

I hate it when magazines and newspapers don't put all their stuff online for free. It's like they think they deserve to be paid for their product. Bastards.

I throw stuff out pretty regularly. I don't like things getting cluttered.

A - I KNEW IT!!

MM - Hands on. That's me too.

RW - I actually had a professional organizer come to me house. That's all she wanted to do was throw my stuff away. I threw her out.

J - Clutter makes me happy.

'It is better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.'

When I read, I like all of my senses to be involve - seeing the words, touching the pages, smelling the ink, listening to the turning of the pages ... then LICKING them ... because I don't want taste to be left out!

D - They have scratch and sniff. Why not scratch and lick. Patent that.
