I found an interesting story about autism yesterday. It's focus was on how some kids are doing better because of the computer.
A recent Japanese study involving middle and high school aged children showed that children with autism, along with Tourette’s Syndrome, ADD and other co-morbid diagnoses, had substantially lower grades when forced to handwrite their assignments. The implementation of computer keyboards and typing devices raised their grades from C and D averages to A’s and B’s.
(Giant leap coming) So the increase in autism diagnoses might be because people are just becoming more aware of something that's been around for a long time but has been ignored. The loss of manufacturing jobs where some affected people could go be themselves and the computer puts these people more in the lime light and makes other people more aware of them. What?
Hey, just go here and read the short article.

I never realized that there were so many allowances available to students in the US. I wonder what they are like here in Australia....better check it out.
Those Japanese don't have anything on me. I could have told you that as my student (high functioning autistic) HATESS to write. His handwriting is awful. He is in advanced math and gets straight A's. Maybe I should write a paper as I have been observing this type of child for many years now!!
I was going to tell you that I had Linda read this this morning as I knew she would be interested. Looks like she did.

Just like Type 2 Diabetes and concussions in sports and ... lots and lots of stuff.
I do better with a keyboard than writing
always have
I wonder what that means about me
I believe we're all on the autism spectrum to some degree so I guess that's what it means
interesting stuff, thanks
