SW Missouri district bans 2 books, including 'Slaughterhouse Five'

Now if you read the story and didn't know anything about the book it sounds like some nice upstanding guy got a bad book banned from exposing high schools students to really bad stuff.

Here's the Wikipedia link to 'Slaughterhouse Five'. It mentions where this book is on a list of 100 most challenged books. This list looks like a 'must read' list to me. How many have you read on the list? (The http://www.ala.org/index.cfm link can keep you busy for a long time.)
Now back to the nutty professor. Here's a different view of the whole situation in a different newpaper.
You can never find any book that will make everyone happy. It will either be to riske' or to boring. The larger the group of critics, the bigger the gap of disagreement. It's almost like .... POLITICS!!!!

That list of banned books has reminded me of another childhood favorite that I have to introduce to Aaron, A Wrinkle In Time.
The Vonnegut Library has offered to send up to 150 copies of the book to any students of Republic High School that request it, free of charge.

Seriously what a stupid list.
K - Better get going. You've got a lot of reading to do. But I wouldn't read those subversive Harry Potter books. There are some lines you just can't cross.
