Music. I have a favorites directory that has a bunch of my favorite old songs
that are on youtube. The songs come and go as the DCRMPQRSTXXX whatever has them
taken down. But right now there are two recordings of two best song ever (yes
there are two) on youtube from thirt... fort.... a long time ago.
My sister and I and friends would go to Collinsville Park ballroom to listen to
Johnny Kaye and the Runaways.
The two songs were two of their best songs. The bands back then always had a
horn section. So between the guitar rifs driving these songs they had great
horns that were as up front as the singer. I don't really listen to the words of
a song. The voice is just another instrument to me. If I start paying attention
to the words I've listened to the song a few to many times.
The first best song? J.J. Jackson, But It's Alright. (Great horn finish)
The next best song? Otis Redding, I Can't Turn You Loose.
The original I Can't Turn You Loose has a slower beat than the more familiar
Blues Brothers version. But after you listen to the original 10 to 15 times it
will sound more normal.
I could drive to the coast and back with these two songs. One song there, the
other back.

I love Otis Redding!
Those are both good songs, but the two best ever? Maybe, right after "Convoy" by C.W. McCall.
