1917 - I'm back!

I'm back! Did you know I was gone? For a week. The last 7 days were preposted! I couldn't leave you without a daily post. Well, I could but decided not to this time. So where did I go? To DC to visit Claudias' cousin. And visit a few bloggers along the way.

The trip got off to a roaring start though. Looking at a 12 hour drive the first day I wanted to get an early start. No later than 8am. So at 9 we took off. No big deal. At least we were going. First stop, the gas station to fill up Claudias' Honda Civic Hybrid.

So we fill up, I get back in the car, turn on the ignition, and every light on the dash comes on.

The car is running but the hybrid system is suddenly flat out of juice. So we limp to the dealer. And on Monday morning the line is back out the door waiting.... and waiting. So 15 minutes later we get to pull into the dealers service area. All I want is for someone to hook up a scanner and tell me if everything is going to be OK. No problem sir, but it will be an hour and a half before we can get to it.

No thanks, we're heading home to get the van (another long story). So I'm waiting for them to put the service ticket on the van in front of me so I can get out of there. When..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz out comes the wheelchair ramp from the side of the van. No offence handicap people but &%$*&%#$. 20 minutes later the van finally gets moved.

So we're on our way back to the house to get the van when Claudia says (again), most of the time this type of problem fixes itself. And.... it's starting to fix itself. The hybrid battery is starting to recharge. The hybrid motor is starting to work. The check engine light is not going out.

We get back to the house around 10am and things seem to be working. We say go for it little hybrid and off we go. It took the rest of the day for the check engine light to go out.

Many hours later we pull into the Beer Mine and make our first blogger stop to see the Matt-Man. Jay may have been hiding somewhere around there because I thought I saw a guy in a viking helmet running out just as we got there. But we had a nice visit with the Matt-Man and came away with a souvenir of the Beer Mine.

This had a code on the back. I think it was the day and time it was produced. But I'm going to let this age gracefully on top of my computer.

Those cars and all their lights! I never know when to trust them. Right now, I get a light saying that the left brake lights are not working but I've double checked and they are.

I've had mine in the shop unnecessarily because the 'check engine' light comes on.

Glad your trip went well after that rocky start.

I have some bad news for you ... it doesn't get any better when you let it age. But if you drink it from a jelly jar?? It's FABULOUS!

Sorry I missed the bloggerpalooza.

Does your car have a Night Panel button? Apparently that cutie can solve whatever ails ya.

That stuff needs to be in the freezer and then drunk IMMEDIATELY after opening.

You just took off into the wilds of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio with a check engine light on? Dude, you're quite adventurous.

Jay - So the liquid nitrogen route seems the way to go.

Claudia said the check engine light would eventually go out and she was right. I love the new technology.

Those warning lights are a pain you know where.

Mike said...

Heidi - Yes they are. It takes fortitude to ignore them.

Amanda - So your 'it's broke' light is broke?

Angel - You mean the 'we're not going to let you know what's wrong' light.

Elvis - There are more stories coming.

Dana - You DRINK it? I thought it was like a white elephant gift that you keep passing around.

Matt-Man - HOW cold? So cold you can't taste it? Liquid nitrogen cold?

LAC - Two people missed because of 'traffic'. The DC area sucks traffic wise.
