1952 - Omar Rayo

Well I was staring at a blank google screen and saw the 'I feel lucky' button. What happens when you hit the button with nothing in the search box? Surprise! You get all the google doodles back to the first of the year. (try it)

So I'm looking through the google doodles not recognizing a lot of them although I've had to have seen all of them. I run across one for Omar Rayo. This gets my attention because of the ..... well here it is.

Looked like modern art to me so I put Omar Rayo in the google search box and went to images. Modern art indeed. There is some cool stuff he did. (RIP 2010) Here's a sample..

I like the color stuff best but he did most of his work in B&W. Here's a short cut to GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH.

So theeeennnnnnnn I find this... https://sites.google.com/site/geometricabstractart/ . That's right. Google has their images subdivided in categories. They have 60 abstract artists listed.

Try and find who did this picture.

Hey! I guess I'm not very lucky because when I hit "I'm feeling lucky" with nothing in the search box, I get nothing. I stay on the same page.

Actually, maybe I've been missing lots of Google Doodles because very often, I get the standard Google page...with no tributes to anyone/anything.

Amanda - I just checked to see if was still doing what I said it did. It is. I used IE8 and Chrome and they both worked.

I put a link in the first paragraph to the page for others that might not get it to work.

Those abstractions are beautiful in their dynamicism. Thank you for calling our attention to this.

They really ramp up illusory phenomena.

That's pretty cool. Now I'm going to waste time looking at all the Google Doodles.
