....I hear the word “socialist” being tossed around by the likes of Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and others. President Obama, they warn, is a socialist. The critics cry, “Obamacare is socialism!” They falsely equate Western European-style socialism, and its government provision of social insurance and health care, with Marxist-Leninist totalitarianism. It offends me, and cheapens the experience of millions who lived, and continue to live, under brutal forms of socialism.

This is a wonderful op-ed from a man who knows what he is talking about ... unlike most of those who spout language they don't understand. I lived for two years in Berlin while it was still divided and walled-in, and I think I know something about the joys of living next door to a socialist society that had to build walls and station guards to keep its happy people in. We have a lot of abysmally stupid people spewing useless words they don't understand, and a lot of equally stupid people lapping it all up. It makes me want to retire to someplace like ... oh ... Alpha Centauri.
And what bothers me is things are just ramping up toward the election. I just can't wait to see what other words come out to play. Sigh....

It's just like comparing someone to Hitler. When people do that they actually lessen how evil Hitler really was.
