2031 - The Olympics.... I think

Seems that someone once tried to bring some culture to the Olympics. Baron de Coubertin tried to bring art to the Olympics. He did for a few but not all of the modern beginning Olympics. From the article...

“We are to reunite in the bonds of legitimate wedlock a long-divorced couple – Muscle and Mind,” said Coubertin, who proposed five competitions in architecture, sculpture, painting, music and literature. All of the art submitted in this “Pentathlon of the Muses”

But the interesting part of the article that caught my attention was this...

In fact, the only event in which the judges awarded a medal other than gold was Sculpture. In every other event, the judges decided that the non-winning entries were not deserving of a medal.

Could you see this happening today. No gold for you, you didn't try hard enough! That would be a hoot! Think there would be any judges bought off before hand?

Again it's not a long article.

Well, I want to see what an Olympic-class poem looks like!

Angel - I'm sure there is competition somewhere with medals. Just not the Olympics.

This sort of Olympic event was long before my tie. Thanks for the information.

At one time tug-of-war was an Olympic event.
