2785 - Lollipop

I was listening to some Youtube songs the other day and came across an oldie. The song is Lollipop by The Chordettes. How old? 1958 old.

That got me investigating a little more about The Chordettes and the song. So off to the knower of everything, wikipedia. Over time there were eight members of The Chordettes, four still living. Two of the four original members are still alive.

If you need a refresher on the song here is The Chordettes cover of the song.

I only remember The Chordettes version. But it turns out that the song was first released by Ronald and Ruby. Who? I had never heard of them but they supposedly made it to #20 on the charts with their original release. See the link above for the song history of the lollipop stuck in the kids hair.

Then after The Chordettes came The Mudlarks. Not a very good remix in my opinion.

So there's the trip down memory lane. But it seems people have been using this song over the years in all kinds of advertising like Dell. So you might recognize it even if you didn't know it's origins.

That was definitely a sing along song back in the day. I wonder how many of the songs out now are ones that young people can sing with? Thanks for the history...I'd forgotten who had recorded it.
