All that being said, the little help tricks probably won't help me. I can never remember the little cues to help remember.
Take the telephone cable color code that used to be a part of my everyday life. Blue Orange Green Brown Slate and White Red Black Yellow Violet. There is a little saying that is supposed to help you remember BOGBSWRBYV (or WRBYV and BOGRS depending on who taught you). I could never remember the saying so I just remembered the colors. Although I do have to say them in order to get down to the one I'm looking for.

I don't even remember what I just watched.
Mnemonic tricks can be more complicated than simply remembering things, but whatever works is what to do.
I'm bad with names too. I find repeating the name when I meet them and then to myself as I walk away sometimes helps. Repetition is the way to get from short term memory to long term memory.
