I found a site awhile back that is an organization that is fighting mandatory minimum sentencing in our justice system. Minimum sentencing, when you get three parking tickets you get sent to prison for life. Probably a private for profit prison.
Well this organization is still around and going strong. Their SITE has up to date information on it. So take a look and see what they are up to.

Sometimes laws like that go beyond Draconian!
Isn't Obama releasing a bunch of people because of overcrowding. Pretty scary!
Some people are put away too damned long for piddling things.
