Did you see the PBS News Hour yesterday? It had a very good segment with author Jonathan Rauch about the way politics have changed in the last 40 to 50 years and why it's hard for Congress to get anything done.

There are billions of people and a version of normal to go along with each one of them. No two versions are exactly the same. There will be hundreds of thousands of little things that make up your version of normal. With any luck you can find people that have close to the same idea of what normal is that you do. These are your friends. Anyone else you try to tolerate as best you can. .... The exact definition of normal depends on who's running the asylum.

I read Mr Rauch's article in the Atlantic Monthly. He's a very persuasive analyst and commentator.
How in the wide world do we get this mess corrected? I can't imagine the thought of compromise. We live near the LBJ ranch and the tour there is very informative on the idea of compromise/ politics.
Since when did compromise become a dirty word?
Wonderful! Thanks for this!
Oh this won't get better until I'm dead I fear.
