So I decided to start ignoring traffic lights. Things have gotten a lot more exciting. Nothing peaceful about it.

I had a similar experience with ignoring my rent!
I'd say that this shows you can't find wisdom in trite, clichéd aphorisms -- but that would sound like a trite, clichéd aphorism.
Good advice for some of things I need to ignore at the moment!
