Stand proud you noble swingers of clubs and losers of balls. A recent study found the average golfer walks about 900 miles a year.
Another study found golfers drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means, on average, golfers get about 41 miles to the gallon.

Between golf balls, alcohol, and green fees ... I don't think I can afford to golf!
So that's why golf is expensive.
That's almost a billion golf balls lost per year. Considering how long golf has been played, there must now be several times more lost golf balls in the world than people!
