So the other day I decide to go to Costco. It was around 5:30 when I got there. The place is packed. People everywhere. I'm sauntering around picking things, looking a few things, not in any real hurry.
I was in a side aisle when one of the lights go out overhead. I wondered if I should report it to someone in case it comes back on but is really going bad. Well, maybe when I leave I'll stop by the front desk.
I continue on towards the back of the store because that's where the paper towels are. I'm standing in the back aisle when another light goes out over my head. What's going on? I'm not sure. But one thing I was sure of was they were out of paper towels. Nothing, naught, zero.
Next thing I know I have someone standing next to me.
Can I help you he says?
No paper towels anywhere?
Nope.
Sir, he says, we're closing.
What? It's only 6:15. You're open until 8:00.
Not on Saturdays sir. We close at 6:00.
Saturday? Is today Saturday?
So I turn around and head back to the main aisle. Half the lights are out now and I see NO ONE in the store. So I bust butt up to the front where one checker is still open and check out. As I'm leaving I tell the girl at the door, I didn't know it was Saturday.

That's one of our biggest issues with retirement - we seldom know what day of the week it is. Unless it's Tuesday, when NCIS is on TV.
can you see my small violin for you and Bilbo? You goof ball.
Hahahah! It's a good thing staff saw you wandering about before they closed down and locked the doors. Good news is, you'd have had plenty to eat and drink until the doors opened following day.
sounds like retirement
An honest mistake. I think it's great that you're retired and it doesn't matter!
