4390 - New car

I got a new car in the past few months. I was looking for unique styling. Can you tell which one I bought? You can blow the picture up to get a better look.

Did you guess the right one? I found this picture on the ... well, you know. And there was an open spot at the bottom right. And my car was missing! I fixed that!

From what I remember about car colors, white was number one. Black was two followed by silver. Then comes red. But that still leaves a lot of red SUV's in a parking lot. I've counted as many as 10 in the general area I was looking for mine. I haven't had to hit the alarm to help me find it ... yet. But I'm sure that day is coming.

We bought it off the lot. A 2019 Subaru Ascent. Almost all the bells and whistles on it. I thought my 2000 Sienna was doing just fine. But Claudia thought we should have a newer car. I took me 2 years to give in.

This car beeps... a lot. It doesn't drive itself but it sure has opinions on how I'm driving. BEEP BEEP! What the hell was that? BEEP! Now what? It has a lane monitor system with a little green icon to tell you when you are in the exact middle of the lane. The little green icon isn't on much.

Also, there is a picture of a car with two white lines on either side. When the cameras pick up the lines they show up on the screen. BEEP! The lines are there! Then when crossing an intersection, BEEP BEEP! OMG, one of the lines went away! STFU!

This thing also has 20-inch tires on it. I would not have opted for those if I had ordered the car. 20-inches tires are 55 aspect ratio tires. Very short side walls. Get on a little bit of a rough road and you can feel every bump. But they sure do look cool. Check the picture again. See those wheels? $750 bucks apiece. They actually offer a separate 5-year insurance policy for the wheels. Only an extra $250.

I was looking for a car that would have a warranty that might outlive me. The salesman didn't mention anything to me. (This car has 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/60 powertrain.) When we were talking to the money guy I mentioned there were cars that had 10/100 bumper to bumper warranties. Too bad this one doesn't.

Oh but it does if you want to pay a little extra. How much? 2K. Sold. So when the main warranties run out, the extended kicks in, and for a $100 deductible per incident, everything is covered. I don't know why they don't push this.

So I'm making a list of little annoyances. This is the first model year after all. (Never buy the first model year. Well, maybe just once, this time.) So we'll see how many design defects I can find as time goes on.

Sounds incredible. I guessed the only non-white car in the pic. Congrats on the NEW vehicle! I'm dying to ask thee question, how much did it cost? But I'm not gonna.

My experience is that no shaver can compete with a blade. That being said, Google “Skull Shaver”. It’s a 5 head shaver that looks ike an electric sander. I'm thinking about getting one. Not the skull shaver brand, but one similar.

I am not certain I want my car telling me what I am doing wrong, isn't that what Rick's job is?
I need a new car. No, I want a new car.
My car is great. It's old but I've put no money into it for 12 yrs. Damn Toyotas last a lifetime!

Enjoy your new car as you get to know each other! Too many beeps would be hard to get used to though.

I have a Subaru Outback; it's a great car. Did you get a remote start? Well worth it!

We loved our Toyota Sienna and now we have a Nissan Quest, which we also love but are going to replace soon. I'm looking for an SUV (I hate sitting down lower than the ole' hips) with two rows of seating and a price tag that won't break the bank. Unfortunately, every time I see one on the road that looks appealing, closer inspection proves that I can spoke all the EXPENSIVE cars a mile away.

This makes Hubzam think we are getting a Lexus or an Infinity because "that's what Cherdo likes."

He forgets that I'm also a tightwad...that's why we don't have one yet.

Mark - It costs too much.

Allen - No remote start. I'm still getting used to the fob thingy.

Cherdo - This car costs almost as much as we paid for our house.
