What am I doing today? Waiting for Claudia to get done with...
Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a surgery to remove a herniated or degenerative disc in the neck. An incision is made in the throat area to reach and remove the disc. A graft is inserted to fuse together the bones above and below the disc.
So what's her diagnosis? Spinal stenosis. See how the disks are pushing into the spine in the picture on the left?
They will remove those disks and put some hardware in. They are going to fuse 3 and 4, then 5 and 6. They say going in through the front is a quicker recovery than going in through the back of the neck.
She has to stay overnight. Just where we want to be right now. In a hospital overnight.
The worst part? I have to get up at 4:30AM!! today. If you don't hear from me for a few days, I'll be taking a nap.

Fingers crossed, Mike. :-)
I hope the surgery goes really, really well.
I hope all works out.
We're sending thoughts and prayers. For real. Claudia has to recover quickly because she's one of the few people who actually returns letters!
I hope that all goes well and any pain is minimal. Sending some healing hugs! RO
Send Claudia our love. Hope she's up and around real quick. Having had 4 back surgeries I found that the pain before the surgery was far worse than the pain and discomfort after so I hope it's the same for Claudia....you know so you can nap without interruption. :-)
Try to rest as much as you can. It's really difficult to be the one waiting outside the surgery and hard to watch someone you love going through pain.
I hope everything goes well and the surgery has its intended effect.
Best wishes to Claudia and may she have a quick and full recovery.
Good luck! Hoping for a total success!
Oh no! Best wishes to you both. Take that nap, as many times as you can!
Everyone - Thanks for the support. More info with the next post.
