5167 - Your brain... on LSD and Music

Yesterday was enlightening. People in charge of nuclear weapons taking LSD and listening to music while on duty. Mildred wanted to know what kind of music they were listening to when they dropped LSD. Well, it seems there have been studies on the best music to listen to while doing LSD.

Let me put this Youtube link here first. It's the answer to "what types of music go best with LSD". This is not quite 5 minutes. Just enough time to read the article about music and LSD while you listen.

Interesting. Music is NOT a necessity for me, and I often prefer silence (as opposed to the Sounds of Silence). I tried LSD once, and bored, never bothered again.

Sue - What I've been reading recently about LSD is that it can help people with mental problems by doing a brain reset.

Regardless of what one listens to when on LSD (I've never tried it), it's said to have influenced the COMPOSITION of music quite a bit. Bob Dylan's sudden jump from folk to an early form of progressive rock, "Like a Rollin' Stone", has been attributed to his taking LSD. Same goes for Beach Boy Brian Wilson coming up with "Good Vibrations" out of nowhere. And of course the Beatles, whose music changed dramatically in the six years between Meet the Beatles and Abbey Road.

I have watched documentaries on the great help LSD does for some mental illnesses. It was fascinating to me as well as exciting. But since I am neither on LSD or need to be, just yet....this music makes me antsy. I can't take it. It isn't calming or pleasant to me. Gee now what does that say about me? :-)

I haven't done any LSD in a while. I think I'll wait a while longer...

Kirk - Although this has nothing to do with LSD, I never liked Bob Dylan, then or now. The Beach Boys depends on what song it is. Good Vibrations is good. The Beatles don't interest me anymore.

Peggy - I've got an idea! On your move to NC, drop some LSD and play that song the whole way. Trip on the trip. I'm sure Rick's mind won't mind.

Mark - Now would not be a good time for you.

So LSD was not just the UK abbreviation for pounds shillings and pence ?

I prefer silence as well. Music with words take my own words away from me.

The music was soothing, but I could NOT watch the video. Maybe because I hadn't taken any LSD?

Stu - I had to look that up. Libra, solidus and denarius.

Susan - I like rock songs where you can't understand the words.

Kathy - So when is the first experiment? I'll come over and do the video.
