Yesterday, Susan ask where the toilet on the stairs actually was. So I looked but couldn't find it. But I did find this... STAIRS. Lots of stairs. What the hell were they thinking stairs. Lots of them.
Here's a sample of them. 6 out of 137. That's right! The link at the end leads you to 137 of these gems.
Those 6 are far from the worst.

Some would be more dangerous to fall down on than others.
Kirk - It's a wonder some of them don't have warning signs stuck all over them.
Some of those linked stairs are so bad I'd take steps to avoid them.
Stu - And there are a lot of steps to choose from.
Ack.
Sue - How many acks? Did you look at all 127?
Hollywood stunt performers know the best ways to fall down all those stairs: https://youtu.be/-tU-L0Rrslg
Some look like I've been drinking already.
Eons ago, when I was a teenager, I worked for a summer government job program at the Jefferson Expansion Memorial (Old Courthouse and Arch). One day they let anyone who was interested climb up the stairs inside the Arch. It nearly killed me then and I KNOW it would kill me now.
So those are stairs for thinning out the population?
I only made it to about #60, but I think I see a trend :D
Only one (#51) makes sense to me - it's the raised toilet with two sets of steps. If this was in a basement where there were no pipes in the original design, the toilet would have to be raised for pipe installation (I don't know whether that would be both water & sewer but you likely know).
Many of the rest look like handrail code installations or the result of new construction that left old stairways in place. The rest have no excuse! I'm extra careful on stairs since I slipped on our basement steps a few years ago. It's not an experience I ever want to repeat. And those were regular stairs, nothing wonky except the wood was worn smooth. Soon afterward my husband put down a carpet runner which is much better.
Sorry for writing a book :)
Bill - So when are you posting the 'Bill falls' video?
Peg - I like the third one best for you.
Kathy - I'm right there with you except for a different structure. I was the teleco supervisor when the 42 story (SWBT; SBC; AT&T; Empty) building went up. One day I decided to walk up the stairs from the second subbasement to the top. I would have made had the stairs been installed past the 37th floor. I did not try again.
Shaw - And I'm sure a few of them have done that.
Jenny - I'm sure there's a story behind every one of those pictures. The railings that block off part of the stairs are more than likely some kind of code compliance.
Mike - my daughter could take that video most days.
Some bone breakers there!
CC - A lot of boner breakers for sure.
Bill - What video?
