Well, not really, not too bad anyway. Just a back and forth about trans
people. It started with this meme.
There was talk about M>F having the only advantage. I posted...
One google search...
https://www.insidehook.com/.../trans-athletes-win-boys...
They said, "That's only one!"
I said there were hundreds of articles.
They said, "Not that we can find."
I posted...
"transgender men competing in sports"
They were gone.
Then I remembered this TedTalk.
Does Emily look like a guy? Or is she a girl? Yes, she/he is. From birth.

Isn't there something else we can all argue about, like whether Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene are actually humans rather than cartoonish aliens?
Although I would be angry if I was a high school or college woman competing against a trans woman (who, depending on when they started taking hormones to transition have the advantage of superior muscle mass), there's something inherently sexist about the media's focus on trans women but not men.
Yeah. "Sports." "Fair competition." That's what everyone is "really" concerned about. Just a convenient, socially acceptable way to express bigotry freely.
It pains me to read some people's opinions about kids dealing with gender/transitioning. Our family is dealing with this issue.
The child in question stopped wanting to wear dresses and begged her mother to get a haircut like a boy when she was 5 years old! She is now known as he and is struggling with mental issues (2 suicide attempts). But this feeling of being in the wrong body was there since 5 YEARS OLD! Fortunately HE is in a loving compassionate family that is doing all we can to accept and understand this difficult time for him.
Peace and understanding to all children and teens who struggle with this. May their struggles be met with love and compassion.
Thanks for posting the video.
Bill - I thought that was already decided...cartoonish aliens!
Kathy - But then I wonder about Emily Quinn (in the video). She has XY DNA.
Deb - I think "they" are just scared of trans people.
Shaw - I know of someone in our extended family (never met her) that transitioned M>F. I know her mother who is just fine with it. She is not very well accepted in that branch of the family. She has had many operations including one to reduce the width of her forehead. Apparently, women's foreheads aren't as wide as men's.
Is there a way we can transition the old scared white dudes?
Matt - They say psilocybin can do a brain reset.
A very interesting talk, which bothered me a bit when she/he mentioned being constantly examined since the age of 10. Surely that wasn't necessary? And the urging of surgery "in case" they get cancer or being told they have cancer because it is an easier way for the doctor to remove the "wrong" organs.
River - I've heard about these types of surgeries for years. A baby is born with male and female genitals and the parents are asked to pick which gender they want their kid to look like. Sometimes they pick the wrong one.
Great TED talk. Years ago I read about babies who are born with both male and female genitalia but at that time nothing was mentioned about chromosomes or DNA so that part of the TED talk was new to me. It only makes sense that there would be a range of bodies being born every minute across the world; why is this such a hard concept for some people to understand? There definitely needs to be more education of the public about this; kudos to Emily for her part in helping doing that.
Jenny - I did a post years ago about this.

Isn't there some kind of compromise when it comes to athletics? Look at boxing. You have various divisions like heavyweight, middleweight, featherweight, etc. I'm not suggesting a trans division and assigned-at-birth division when it comes to swimming or tennis, but you can do it based on height and weight. Boxing these days may be seen as more barbaric than it was in the past, but at least it's progressive when it comes to not insisting on one-athlete-fits-all.
Kirk - Wrestling has divisions. How about height divisions for basketball. And weight divisions for football.
The Colleague Sprint Football League (which will be coming to Fontbonne University) mandates that players must weigh 178.0 pounds or less. They will start playing in the fall of this year.
Thanks for the link to your post, Mike. That's another great article. I should have said the article I had read was from the mid-80s, so, some time ago. But I still think of it when I'm reading stories about gender dysphoria and ambiguity. More people need to read or hear about it and realize how common it is.
Jenny - Very true. Gender isn't male/female. It's a spectrum.
Kathy - Interesting. I think it's a good idea but I wouldn't have qualified for it after my sophomore year in high school.
Blessings ♥️
Indeed! Yes. Much research and private experience prove that psilocybin does improve brain function, as does lion mane mushrooms which I use daily in my coffee. Psilocybin less often. Researchers pharmaceutical companies and legislators all seem to be working together to bring this treatment to the fore. Yes. Works!
Very true. Back in 1996 I was hired as the first person in the state of Hawaii to provide services of any kind to the transgender population. I was doing HIV prevention, but it morphed into a bigger thing and now there are many of the girls working in social work here! As well as other fields. It's much more a Polynesian thing and more accepted. Although the missionaries did a job and these folks were hidden from the public for many years.
Cloudia - Never heard of lion mane mushrooms. I'll look it up.
As more trans people and others (lots of "others") come out of their closets, the more they put themselves in the crosshairs of the nut jobs.
