This is an ad for a candidate for our local school board. It's one of those electronic billboards that changes ads about every 30 seconds.

There are billions of people and a version of normal to go along with each one of them. No two versions are exactly the same. There will be hundreds of thousands of little things that make up your version of normal. With any luck you can find people that have close to the same idea of what normal is that you do. These are your friends. Anyone else you try to tolerate as best you can. .... The exact definition of normal depends on who's running the asylum.

What is with the spate of book banning? It's seems so bizarre to me in this time and age 🤔 She definitely doesn't sound like someone you want on the local school board.
Because what the world needs are more people with tunnel vision and an inability to live in this century.
She has no place on a school board if her own kids aren't even in the system anyway.
Ugh.
No, no, no. I hope she fails to win a seat. I really hope it.
CC - I can't figure out what drives these people. There are two of them running for school board this election. The two normal sane people running have the backing of the teachers union. I've been putting out signs for them.
Ami - Especially if her kids go to a private school. She should go mess with her own kids school board.
Sue - Lots of people are working hard to see that it doesn't happen.
I agree with Ami. This has nothing to do with education and everything to do with political dominance and conservative extremism.
Yes, trouble with a capital T.
I agree! Definitely trouble.
I had a little bit of trouble reading the woman's name from your photo, but Google was able to fill in the blanks for me (I think).
Unless there is another person with a name similar to Carrie Clay, I saw someone who was a graduate of the school district and who had been active in some of the elementary schools. Churchill School is for children who have pretty bad learning disabilities and have trouble functioning in public schools (so I put that in a different 'private school' category. Nothing on there about banning books, but I wouldn't expect there to be :-)
Gosh, I've now spent more time researching a candidate in an election YOU will be voting in, and still need to research school board candidates in MY district.
Those are same people who accuse "the Libs" of wanting to impose a radical agenda on the rest of the country.
Who is also running for a seat? Is anyone more moderate?
Bill - Exactly.
Deb - ALL caps.
Martha - Yep.
Kathy - Clay and Randelman are both book banners but have stopped talking about "banning books" because they realized it was drawing too much negative attention. But a person running for Mayor in our city and these two are leading the book banning charge. Clay has a dyslexic kid that she thought wasn't getting enough attention so she pulled both her kids out. (how long ago?) Her bio says she's a stay-at-home mom. Why isn't she an expert on dyslexia by now?
The two of them are hanging their hats on a study that ranked Lindberg 76 in the state. USNews ranks Lindberg 10th in the state, 9th in the St. Louis area. (Kirkwood 5 and 4) Our two districts are always in the top ten and move up and down from year to year. Both have been in the number one slot before. It's hard to stay there forever which is where Clay thinks Lindberg should be.

Shaw - Absolutely.
Lady - 2 seats open with 4 people running. Two normal people and the two book banners.
The book banning is a real red flag. Hopefully enough people will see it and vote. They must do both.
All manner of evil has been unleashed by that ghoul
these are the folks who have come out under rocks since the orange one. I wish they'd all go back.
Thanks for the background information. BTW, how is Claudia?
Those types do try to get political power to enact their agenda. That'd be okay if they weren't so extreme. I respect a difference of opinion, but there needs to be shared sense of reality. Book burning?!
Hope your voters come out in droves.
Jenny - Unfortunately this can be a very conservative area.
Cloudia - And people still can't see that he's an idiot.
Peg - I don't know what it's going to take to drive them back underground.
Kathy - Doing lots better. Still has to watch how she turns her head.
Allen - I hope voters see them for what they are.
"And her kids don't even go to public school. She has two kids in private school. So why is she running for our school board?"
Has anyone, like, say, a journalist, asked her?
These types are trying to infiltrate Govt. at levels they don't have any skin in the game of but want to upend it for those who do have skin in that game, they are nothing but trouble. Voters need to be informed and remain vigilant.
Kirk - The only paper that would cover this is a small local paper that is very conservative and would be on her side. The liberal local paper went out of business years ago.
Dawn - The problem is getting voters out to these small local elections. The April 5th ballot has no state or federal candidates on it.
Book banners should not even be allowed to be in the running.
River - Totally agree.
