5703 - New family member

Yep, we have (my son has) a new family member. Meet Ripley. She's a Shiba Inu. And she has papers.

Where did the name Ripley come from? Well, believe it or not, it's a scifi name. Did it ring a bell with you? Do you know what movie(s) it's from? I'll put the answer in the comments.

**********

And yesterday blogger jail was open for business. I found three people in there. Sometimes I forget to check. But I'll get to you eventually.

Sigourney Weaver in the Alien movies was known as Ripley.

Ripley is a beauty.
Sigh at spam jail. I have found several of my own comments there - which irritates me.

Mike beat me to it.
Ripley, the dog, is beautiful. I've not heard of that breed before.

Good thing she has papers, now that the GOP is back in charge in the House and better empowered to weaponize immigration. Ripley is a good name, but she doesn't look at all like Sigourney Weaver.

Ripley. Believe it or not. Also an american TV show. For the non- aliens here.

A great addition to the family. Is this the son who lives with you?

Ripley is a gorgeous puppy. I know the name Ripley comes from the movie Alien, but I like your nod to Ripley's Believe It or Not.

Sue - It's been a while since we've had a puppy in the house. It's fun.

River - NO NO, that was me, Mike, just letting everyone know where the name came from although it looks like everyone but me knew already.

Apparently, Shiba Inu's are in high demand on the West Coast. The gal we got Ripley from had a couple fly in from California and pay $1500 for a puppy. It was cheaper than paying the $6000 they are going for out there. The gal is having trouble here selling them so we paid only $500. Which to me is still a LOT for a dog.

Bill - I googled Sigourney Weaver. She's as old as us. But looks 20 years younger.

Lady - We already are!

Stu - Yep. And it didn't register with me immediately.

Kathy - Yes he is. And if he ever does move out (again, again, again), he may have to leave the dog here! He's sort of been in the dumps off and on since Stella died. Ripley has really lifted his spirits.

Deb - It took me a minute to connect the name to the book. And I still call the dog Riley every once in a while.

Congrats!! What a good-lookin' puppy! They don't get real big do they? I thought just like a medium size dog but I am not that well versed in this breed so just curious because he's paws look like he's got a bit of growin' to do 😁

My son's best friend named his daughter Ripley. But I knew the reference. :)

Shiba Inu is an amazing dog breed, but there's a whole lotta maintenance and whining in your future. They're very vocal and they like things just so.

Congrats on the new family member.

Peg - Plus or minus 20 pounds is all she'll get. Probably below 20 since females are smaller. So large small dog. There's one waiting for you over there.

Ami - So far she hasn't made much noise. If we play with her and get her running around she will do her high pitched yelp. But basically, she doesn't bark at all.

Martha - I just got you out of blogger jail. But I think they said you were still on parole. 😁

Congrats! Enjoy your new family member! Puppies are wonderful but it takes a lot of work. Train now or regret it forever. I've seen that too many times.

Allen - Ripley has only been here a few days but seems like a very trainable dog.
