5736 - How did that happen?

Here's a fun math illusion that appears out of nowhere. The video is only a minute long.

Well that's interesting. Never heard of it before. Now I'm mentally trying to decide how long it will take to draw 25,000 points and if it's worth it or if I should just believe the guy who posted this video. :-D

Math is Greek to me Mike

Interestingly the included area is finite and ang within the original trianble, but the perimeter line when you join all the dots, is infinitely long.

Wow. My brain hurts.

Ami - Be like me, I'm a believer.

Cloudia - But the Greeks were good at math, so...

Anon - The area may be finite but there can be an infinite number of dots.

Sue - One dot too many?

One of the most interesting things I learned in geometry classes (one of the few areas of math at which I was actually good) was the idea of "geometrical constructions," in which we used blank paper, a ruler, and a compass to draw amazing figures that proved geometrical laws. Never heard of this one, though. Fascinating.

Like Ami, I want it to be true.

RR - I agree.

Bill - We'll want to see your finished work.

Deb - Welcome to the believers club.

Cool - but I am a little busy right now to draw 25,000 points. Maybe someday.

I want to say I find this fascinating but all I can think of is who the hell has time for this stuff? My mind doesn't work like this. Now I have a headache.

Crazy!

Lady - One dot a day. And in 68 1/2 years, you'll be done.

Peg - Basement people.

That's interesting and a little impressive, but I won't try it for myself.

Hey, I had time to watch it! I understood it well enough to to enjoy very much. It doesn't matter how you construct it. As long as you observe those two rules that will be the end result. I think a lot of things in life must be like that, but my head hurts. Trying to think about what they might be. Hey, have a great weekend and stay warm

River - Not even 10,000 dots?

Cloudia - It's going down to -7F tonight. Here's hoping the furnace can hang in there. ... Hey, how many visitors can you handle?
