5794 - This is knot you're average post


In the late 19th century, the mathematician and physicist Peter Guthrie Tait worked to classify every mathematical knot. Using little more than geometric intuition, he and his collaborators succeeded in finding every knot with up to 10 crossings.

The fact that there are knots at all proves that we live in 3 spatial dimensions.
There are no knots in e.g. four.

There are no knots in 4D of 1D strings Stu. But you can knot 2D sheets in 4D 🤪

Having lived aboard a boat I have a fascination for knots but they are all the gordian not to me!
