The phone rang.
Me: Hello?
Her: Hello, do you have time to take a survey?
Me: For who?
Her: The Metropolitan Sewer District. It might take 25 to 30 minutes.
Me looking at the clock: Well, maybe. How long did you say?
Her: 25 to 30 minutes. (She's not saying much more.)
Me: Well, I guess I could give it a shot.
Her: OK, first, are you a registered voter?
Me: Yes.
Her: (Asks another question that I don't remember.)
Me: Answers question.
Her: How old are you?
Me: 76
Her: I'm sorry, you have to be 75 or under to take the survey. Click.
Me: !
Here's the thing. I really didn't want to take the survey and being too old got me out of it. Too old to take a survey? Who knew?!

30 minutes??? Nope. I don't have that kind of time. Even if they compensate me for it.
Remember Jenna Tull? https://amimental.blogspot.com/2019/04/the-book-of-faces-strikes-again.html
Pretty sure you're on THE LIST.
She got you to say "yes". Never do that. Now they'll put that in a different context so you end up agreeing to buy something. Expect a bill for an abo or similar.
Stu is right ... I can give you a long list of ways to say "yes" without actually saying the word. "No" is easier ... just use an appropriate adverb in front of it, depending on the annoyance level of the person to whom you are responding.
WTF?
"It might take 25 to 30 minutes"! Unless they were offering a credit on my bill I wouldn't be able to say no fast enough. This is one time your age worked in your favor.
Ami - Maybe Jenna is Jethro's sister.
Stu - I called MSD. They said it was a legitimate survey going on right now. The service rep and I had a good laugh about the age requirement.
Bill - My radar was up for questions they didn't need to know the answers to.
Deb - Exactly. The service rep I talked to was just as surprised as I was.
Kathy - I really wanted to know what they were after. I feel a rate hike coming.
we got a similar call. We started to participate, hung up at question #5.
And, just because I am in the 7th decade of my life, I got more smarts than you do, lady.
Susan - I called MSD and they said it was a legitimate survey. But it's too hard to tell these days who's legitimate and who's not.
Wow an age requirement for a survey - who knew?
Lady - The customer service rep I called also said it was strange.
30 minutes? Heck no! I'm expecting all eight kids will arrive home hungry any minute now. "hangs up"
