5819 - Claudia update

I'm getting my days mixed up so if something doesn't compute it's me. I think it was last Wednesday (or Tuesday) we went to the ER. At the ER they did a CT looking for anything wrong with her gut. They said her large intestine was totally backed up. I knew that because of nothing coming out. Go see a GI doc was the prognosis. We got into a GI doc because of a cancelation on ... Thursday.

The doc was nice and seemed to know what he was talking about in relation to Parkinson's. Some doctors don't take that into consideration. We got a referral to a hospital group where they could do a procedure and x-ray. They told me to call because otherwise, the request they faxed over might sit for weeks.

I called on Friday. Hospital says, we didn't get any request. The hospital calls the doctor's office. Hospital comes back on the phone, the doctor's office is closed on Fridays. 🤦‍♂️ So I say I'll see what I can do.

I called the doctor's off-hours line and leave a message. The doctor's office calls back in about a half an hour. The office staff is working, just not the doctors. The office resends the fax. I call the hospital back (phone tree hell) and yes they got it. She starts taking all our information and after about 10 minutes she says I have to put you on hold, I'll be right back.

I listen to music for about 4 minutes and ding! there's another gal on the line. I said I was on hold. She said she couldn't get me back to the other gal but she would take care of me. So we start over. We get to the point of which hospital to go to. The hospital closet has an appointment 2 weeks from now. No no no, we need to get in ASAP. Well, the best they could do was another hospital (not that far away) on Wednesday. I said we'll have to take that.

So we wait with Claudia backed up, throwing up, and not going. I hope her intestines don't explode before Wednesday.

I cut this story in half. Lots more BS went on.

You'd think with someone totally backed up they'd get her in somewhere immediately, that's a dangerous situation. Would a dose of laxatives help if this happens again?

River - That's the problem. There's no place for them to go. They can't get to where they need to do their work. And by trying to work, they could give her severe cramps per the doctor.

We've been lucky with our medical care so far ... I hope it lasts. Give our best to Claudia.

Poor Claudia! I hope everything will be resolved on Wednesday. Good thing she has you to navigate all the bureaucratic nonsense with the doctors and hospitals.

Sending healing thoughts Claudia's way...and some extras for you, too.

Uggh - stories from the front line of the American Healthcare System. I hope you and Claudia get some relief soon.

If the pain, temperature or vomiting increase at all, go back the ER...the one at the "other hospital" where she has the appointment. Frustrating.

I'm so sorry to hear what you and Claudia are going through. This is not the way it should be! Please keep us informed.

I am so sorry to hear that Claudia is suffering so much. I have a similar problem, and can empathize this. After 3 days of not going, I am in pain. Dr. has been helpful, but I need to see a specialist.

Has she tried colonic irrigation, anally applied, with warm water?
Fix it fast as peritonitis can be fatal. All the best.

I'm so sorry, medical care just SUCKS today. They don't seem to understand that there are real human beings on the phone or in their office or whatever. Assembly line medicine and close to zero compassion or interest in the outcome.

I hope everything will be taken care of as soon as possible.
