Last night I was on a mission to save the blooms on my magnolia tree. This picture is from a few years ago. I tried to keep a few fires going under the tree but I think it was the wind that kept the flowers from freezing.
This time of year things can get iffy as to whether or not a cold snap will come along and zap the flowers on the tree. The tree looks pretty much like the picture right now. It made it through last night but we have another three day cold snap coming up. If it's windy like it was last night the flowers might make it. But if the wind dies down and the frost sets in ... good by flowers.
Claudia and I are heading to the hospital this morning
Update - Claudia is home. How did it go? I don't know. You know how after a procedure the doctor comes out and talks to you? Nope. Not this time. The transport tech brought her out and said, "You're free to go. The doctor will send the results to your GI doctor."
Me - 🙁

That's some tree. You should include it when you do one of those tree posts of yours.
Sending good wishes in you and Claudia's direction. Our medical 'help' in the US is just awful.
The tree is beautiful, they call them tulip trees in some places.Very showy.
Good luck with the tree and with Claudia. We're fast approaching the infamous Cherry Blossom Season here in NoVa/DC, when views of the gorgeous cherry blossoms are obscured by tens of thousands of tourists trying to take pictures of the gorgeous cherry blossoms during their brief lifetime.
The trees I can see from my window look like they came through OK, but they're less exposed than yours. Good luck with today's adventure.
I hope everything turns out well for Claudia and she gets the treatment and relief she needs to feel better again.
Kirk - I'm sure I've posted pictures of it before. I'll try and find the posts and link them tomorrow.
Ami - Around here the trees that are called tulip trees have flowers 2 to 3 times bigger than our tree.
Bill - You get up at oh-dark-thirty. You need to beat the tourists out there to take pictures.
Kathy - It's been a few years since the flowers on the tree have been frost bit. I hope the wind keeps blowing to keep the frost off.
Deb - I had to get you out of spam jail. ... I guess we'll find out as the day goes along if she's feeling better. If she can eat and not throw up will be a good sign.
Good to hear that she is safe enough to go home. Hopefully the magnolia tree will survive this weather. Such beautiful trees.
Wishing both the magnolia and Claudia all the best. I hope she gets some relief soon.
Susan - More trees tomorrow.
Lady - Me too. It's been an adventure.
I hope the doctor isn't avoiding you because it's bad news.
The tree is magnificent.
River - I'm going to try and find out more info tomorrow. Nobody called us today after we got home.
Blessings to both if you.
I love that tree. It really is a beauty!
John - It's been hanging in there for at least 46 years, like us.
Good luck with the tree. And I hope Claudia gets the necessary treatment and feels better!
Martha - The tree got zapped in the cold. The flowers are goners this year.
