I watched the new Ricky Gervais Netflix special the other night. In it, he mentions a website called "Does the Dog Die?" It's a website about movies. It warns people who have triggers about certain phobias in their lives. Are there spiders? Does a woman get slapped? Are teeth damaged? Basically, anything that might set them off. So you can look up a movie and find out if your phobia is in it.
Here's all the trigger categories that have been asked about in any movie.
Have fun. See what people are afraid of.
BTW... In the Ricky Gervais special, he said a friend called him up and asked about the movie 'Old Yeller'. His friend asked him if Old Yeller died at the end of the movie. He told him, nooooo, everything turns out OK. An hour later his friend calls him back... YOU SON OF A BITCH!

I really don't do movies - but do read the last few pages of a book to see if my triggers have been set.
I never thought about movies triggering people, probably because I don't have phobias.
Another interesting topic. Thanks Mike
Sue - I buy books and don't read them. My trigger is attention span.
Cloudia - Who knew?!
Who comes up with these lists, anyhow?
Ricky Gervais has a very twisted sense of humour.
Yet another very helpful website I won't remember to check.
I looked at all the spoiler and found for me personally, they're all relative. By that I mean, a dog dying in one movie may bother me but not in another. It kind of depends on the writing and directing and acting.
That said, I'll give you one ridiculous, but quite real-to-me, trigger. Remember Stephen Furst who played Flounder in Animal House? I've always found him funny. Sometime in the early '80s I was channel surfing--we'd just gotten cable--and came across a Chuck Norris movie. I'm not a Norris fan but Furst was in it and that was reason enough to watch. This odd movie was combination karate-horror. Everything about it was straight-faced but Furst, who was clearly comedy relief. Again, he was very funny. Unfortunately, none of that comedy was enough to keep him from getting KILLED by a Frankenstein-like monster, and I was horrified. Jump ahead a few years. Furst ends up on St. Elsewhere, mostly, and understandably, in comedy-oriented storylines, though there were bits of drama here and there. One of those here and there dramatic bits came just two episodes before the series finale when his character DIES. Oh, my God!
So anyway, that's my trigger: Stephen Furst death scenes (fortunately, the actor himself is still alive.)
I got lots of triggers - torture, rape and animal abuse. I usually trust those around me to give me a warning. Good thing I don't know Ricky.
That friend was Jane his life partner. I saw that special. Not one of his best but good Gervais. Trevor Noah's is good to if you are so inclined.
Bill - Someone saw a need and fulfilled it. 😄
Deb - Doesn't he though? I love him!
Kathy - I know what you mean. I copied two websites from your last post. I'll probably never go to them again.
Kirk - So you can start a new category on the site. Does Stephen Furst die? He's not mentioned on the site, I checked.
Lady - I think everyone has a few. I know I probably have one or two but nothing comes to mind right now. That makes it worse as I get blindsided by them.
I guess I'm in spam jail again.
River - Yes you were. I broke you out. Be glad you don't have any phobias. They can be crippling for some people.
