6133 - Not much Monday

Here's a link about annoying your HOA. It's not all that annoying. It's more about being a good citizen.

Not something we have to worry about here.

Sue - You don't know how lucky you are.

Thank God we no longer have to deal with an HOA, they were The Devil and more of an annoyance than any Resident they harassed could ever have been IMO. The most important aspect of finding a Forever Home to move to, was to ensure it had no HOA. Which is a tall order these days, those damned things are now mandatory in far too many Communities... so you have to move to a Historic or Older Neighborhood to avoid them.

Dawn - Totally agree.

We're pretty fortunate in that our HOA is pretty reasonable about most things, as long as you pay your dues on time.

Just in time for our Annual Homeowner's meeting tonight. The board hates me and I'm a non-argumentative 80-year-old woman - the target of all their refusal to be responsible but I won't be driven away or yell back. The other homeowners love me as I have been around twice doing a Silly Survey I devised just to try to bring our members together. Still the board hates me. I strongly advise NEVER to buy into an HOA.

I read all that and kept thinking, Big Brother Is Watching You.

Bill - I thought you might be in one. I'm glad to know they're not a crazy bunch.

SG - HOA, no way!

Kirk - Bad HOAs are the biggest of the big brothers. Some of the HOA stories on the internet are unbelievable.

As part of a condominium community, our HOA can be even more restrictive, because they own the land and exterior of the buildings.

No HOA here thank goodness. I try to not annoy people anyway, legally or not, but if the neighbours make too much noise while I'm trying to watch tv I will turn the sound up and if the uostairs neighbour makes too much noise when I'm trying to get to sleep at night I will get up and turn on one of my music playlists and have the volume set at deafening for about a hour. She barely makes a sound all day! So why does she decide to roll mops and brooms around and walk about putting things away AFTER I've turned off my tV at night?

My former HOA was neither reasonable or nice.
All those on your list I have seen people get fined for or worse. That satellite dish for one. Wowsa that was a big bru-ha-ha for over a year in our neighborhood. He lost. As was the clothes line etc. My husband went to join when they were asking for volunteers to be on the committee. He thought he could be of help. But he came home after a month and said, "this is run by the kids in school who got shoved in a locker, they want paybacks with their power." He quit.

We live in a condo but fortunately it is really well run and our board are not crazy. Thanks, Mike

I believe that the owners of the condos also own fractional piece of the rest of the building, public areas, elevators, exterior, etc. The board just represents the owners. Owners they don't own anything. I could be wrong. Aloha friend

Kathy - My mother-in-law is in one of those.

River - It "sounds" like there is a contest going on there. 😁

Peg - "they want paybacks with their power" I can see that for sure. But I think you also have the school bullies and their followers who need to keep their bullying at peak level.

Cloudia - I'm glad you have a nice condo association. And if it's a typical Condo setup, you are an owner of the building. If you vote on who's on the condo board, then you're an owner.

No contest, most of the time I can ignore them, just once a year or so I get fed up and give them a taste of what they dsh out.

River - Too many of the HOA board members are dictator wanna-be's.
