That doesn't surprise me. Teens are self-absorbed, but young adults have enough life experience to respond to others. Oldsters have too many of their own physical and mental issues.
I will agree with Kathy!!
Unfortunately, as you grow older,
the problems multiply and absorb you.
I am still empathic and use it in my volunteer work. It is definitely a double edged sword though.
