My neighbors are a mixed bag. He's from Philidelphia. She's from Pakistan. They both are Ph.D.s and both have postdocs. A couple of nice smarty pants.
But she, being from Pakistan, is pro-Gaza and hates how people are getting killed left and right over there. She posts about her displeasure on Facebook.
Last week her Facebook page was removed. Disappeared. Vanished. So she tried to set up a new one. Turns out she had to call Facebook and get on a video call with them to prove who she was. They were reluctant to let her set up a new page but finally relented.
I found out about it when she was refriending everyone on her new page. I wonder if I'm on a list now.

Maybe she can find a more friendly platform than Facebook.
One of my friends is in a constant battle with FB over removal of her posts. I'm surprised I haven't been censored yet ... maybe I'm too subtle? Nah ...

Wow. That's just wrong.
Hopefully she does not leave the country and try to get back in. But a lot of people did not vote for Kamala because of Gaza. Surely they must be regretting that decision.
It's one of those things where all the people she's friends with are on FB.

I forgot to mention that she is a US citizen now. But her mother lives with them and I don't think she is a citizen. But I'm not sure. She also has a sister who is in Georgia, works at a hospital and is in charge of the infectious disease department. I'm not sure if she's taken her citizenship test yet.
But after some of the news stories, being a citizen apparently doesn't mean anything these days.

Is Facebook really worth the effort? I'm on it, but if I got kicked off, I think I'd just say FU and get on with my life. One less logarithm to worry about.
It depends on how many other people you know that are on a particular platform. I got on FB to see what my kids were doing. Now I see what my granddaughter is doing. I just checked and I have 64 friends most of which I never hear from.
I've been censored on Instagram. I deactivated FB some time ago. When I tried to deactivate my instagram it wouldn't let me.
