Last Monday...
My sister had Covid.
She was scheduled for follow-up laser surgery on her cornea replacements.
She woke up in the morning to find her husband had died in the middle of the night. He had angina and wasn't doing well. (It doesn't seem like it's been a week ago already.)
I was still working on my taxes and fighting with the Turbotax program. I got it done on Saturday.
Claudia and I had doctor appointments on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Wednesday my sister tested negative for Covid.
It's been a while since I've worn a suit coat for anything. Saturday I found out none of my old suit coats fit me anymore. 😩
Today is my BIL Nick's visitation.
Tomorrow he gets buried.
Nick got drafted in 1968 during Vietnam. He spent a year overseas as a medic, earning 3 Bronze Star Medals, 2 of them with a "V" device (for valor), a Combat Medical Badge, a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle M-14), and Good Conduct Medal.
I turned 78 last November. Nick turned 78 last month. 😬

I'm sorry. I hope you have a lot of good memories of him.
I am so very sorry.
Facing our mortality is ugly. And my old suit coat still fits ... the pants don't.
Condolences to you and your sister, and their family. After seeing all that war when young, he had a peaceful passing at the end.
Sorry to hear that Mike.
Nick sounds like quite the guy. I'm sure he will be missed by many.
I wouldn't sweat the lack of suit coat. It always amazes me how casual wakes (and even funerals) have gotten.
Sorry to hear that Mike. I hope you family can find some comfort in your loss by remembering good times.
Peace be with you and your family
sending positive vibes in your direction
Fine tribute to your brother-in-law. My sympathies to you and your sister.
