I went golfing for charity yesterday. Charity didn't show up but we golfed anyway. Two funny things happened to Player #1(P1)(Names changed to protect the guilty). But first the setup. It's cold (for golf). It's raining on and off (more on than off). The wind is blowing hard at times. Got the picture? Were it not a charity tournament we would not have even gotten in the 12 holes we did. And it was not a good day for P1. Did I mention there was beer?
On a par three P2 is teeing up. P1 is standing there watching when the rain picks up. P1 opens his umbrella. The wind picks up. P1 starts moving backwards. Did I mention there's a container of sand to repair divots on the tee? P1 falls backwards over the container, loses his umbrella and does a backward roll in the water and mud. P1 is pissed. P1 kicks the sand container. P1 beats the crap out on the sand container with a six iron. Sand container declared dead.
A few holes later. Tee box is next to lake but about 30 yards left. P1 is teed up. It's raining harder now. P1 swings. Hits the ball good. Did I mention it's raining harder? Driver flys out of P1's wet hands over his left shoulder. Driver is now helicoptering towards lake. P1 says - ARRRGGHHHHHHH. Driver doesn't quite make it to the lake but P1 gets to tromp through knee high water grass, in the rain, to retrieve the driver.
Later at the club house, after hearing his "friends" tell these stories many many times, P1 decides these stories might actually BE funny and starts telling them also.
If I forgot to mention it, it was a long cold wet day. And no P1 was not me and no I didn't get it on video. My personal film crew had the day off.

I was thinking about coming by the course after I left work. I wish I would have.
There's nothing more fun than playing golf in the rain and wind. And by "fun" I mean "miserable."
I think I'm going to have to post some of my greatest golf moments now. Thanks for the inspiration.
B - you could have been taping all the stuff that happened.
J - "my greatest golf moments"
I know what you're talking about. I have many 'greatest golf moments' myself.
You did well at telling in prose these couple of "You had to be there" jokes.
