OK OK, as the author points out in the article they really don't hate Jesus. They just selectively like certain things and ignore others. Here's a bit from the article.
Jesus was very clear that the pursuit of wealth was inimical to the Kingdom of God, that the rich are to be condemned, and that to be a follower of Him means to give one's money to the poor. And yet Evangelicals are the most supportive of corporate greed and capitalistic excess, and they are the most opposed to institutional help for the nation's poor -- especially poor children. They hate anything that smacks of "socialism," even though that is essentially what their Savior preached.

I love how so-called "Christians" pick and choose the parts of the Bible to adhere to...and totally forget other parts...like the part about not judging others unless you are without sin...and my favorite...love your neighbor as yourself.
Andrea, most religions pick and choose within their scriptures - it's the only way they can avoid the cognitive dissonance that goes with it. Christians are guilty of it when they ignore some of the more brutal parts of the Old Testament, and Muslims do the same thing when they quote the peaceful verses of the Koran, but fail to mention the more bloodthirsty and intolerant ones. Nobody's hands are clean on this.
MD - Usually the one line quotes from the bible misinterpret what the whole section was trying to get across.
B - Reminds me of a story last year about the Buddhists and the Hindus in India killing each other.
