From a news story...
'Ramzan Kadyrov, the Chechen leader, said in a statement that attempts “to draw a parallel between Chechnya and the Tsarnaevs, if they are guilty, are futile. They grew up in the U.S., and their views and beliefs were formed there. The roots of the evil should be looked for in America.”'
Not true.
In my years at the phone company I was introduced to many a motivational speaker and their programs. I remember one from Colorado, Dr. Massey. The one thing I remember from his program was that our values are locked in when we are around 10 years old. (His wikipedia page is a little different, but close)
He said if you are prejudiced at 10, you will be prejudiced your whole life. You may be aware of how you are and control your feelings. But they will always be with you.
So we look at the two bombers and find that they came here 10 years ago. That would make them 9 and 16 years old. Both of them had their value system locked in already. They also lived with their father. He would just reinforce what they had already learned.
So Ramzan Kadyrov, take your theory and shove it. They brought their 'roots of evil' with them from your country.

I was amazed at how much various 'pundits' and opinion-shapers tried to put their own slant on the story. These were two guys who were given great advantages by being here, and where total ingrates!
Could at least one of them be a "sleeper terrorist" and influence the other?
Angel - That's what's sad. Both of them seemed to be doing better than a lot of people. What were they looking for out of life?
Grand - I think the older one turned into a radical and the younger one blindly followed.
Great post Mike.
My Grandmother said to me after observing a child of a friend of the family that children "are who they are" by the time they are 8 or 9. She used that term a great deal over the years. I'm sure she never read anything of Dr. Massey's but I agree with both of them.
I also agree with your comment to Grand Crapaud.
Gee don't tell Claudia I think you are 100% correct here, I'll lose my wife card.
Peg - Claudia will be to busy being surprised that I remembered something from that far back.
But, they're not from Chechnya. Not the two kids anyway.
Also, where are Timothy McVeigh's roots of evil?
Or Ted Bundy's?
Or John Wayne Gacy's?
Or .. you get the picture.
Jay
Jay - Well like I said, they did get to the USA until 10 years ago. Then the older one caught the Gacy Bundy syndrome. Then the younger one caught the Patty Hurst syndrome.
I think that the younger one was old enough to make his own moral decisions, and should get full responsibility for this reprehensible acts.
Heidi - I'm sure he will. But remember OJ.
My guess is this kid's defense is going to be a combination of "he was under the spell of his brother" and wild-ass conspiracy theories that sound a lot like what you hear on right-wing radio. You know, "false flag" and "the government did this and set us up" and stuff like that.
Jay
Jay - That's what this kids' Dad was saying from Russia. 'If they kill my other son it will be a USA conspiracy!'
Mike - great post, and a good comment to Jay. It's nice to know that not all the crackpot conspiracy buffoons aren't here at home.
Bilbo - Thanks. And yeah it seems the WORLD is full of conspiracy theorists.
