As often as I watch Letterman I never noticed this little routine at the end when he goes over and talks to the band that just got done playing. He probably doesn't do this everytime but often enough that someone made a video of it.

Very interesting! I'm not much of a Letterman fan, myself. He comes on late.
I think he does ask every one of them if the drums are rented. It would be funny if he asked the lead singer "That was great, was it you or did you lip sync?"
