Referring to my post from yesterday, my son and I started working on getting the big tree branch cut up. You know how you see on Youtube the guy that cuts the wrong downed branch that was under tension and goes flying through the air? I didn't want to be one of those guys.
We had cleared out most of the leafy branches and were getting to the branches under tension. There were two suspicious ones. I had one of them sawed half way through. The saw blade was getting tight so I thought I'll just relieve the tension a little by making an undercut.
One light swipe of the saw and crack. The branch split a little bit, right in my direction. 'OK I think were done cutting on this one' I said as I moved quickly away.
We went and got a rope, tied it to the suspicious branch, and pulled. POW! CRACK! THUD! Down it came.
I'm glad I wasn't standing where I had been before.
Maybe it will stop raining and I can get my electric chain saw out there and finish up.
