Schools are off right now. And when I worked at the phone company they knew no one would be getting anything done today so they encouraged taking a vacation day. Sometimes they even declared it a 'personal' day for everyone and just closed shop.
But today my son and my son-in-law are working. My daughter took a vacation day.

Yep, I'm working today ... along with about another half-dozen people in the Pentagon.
That is interesting. We work more and enjoy it less.

Are we determined to be more productive just because we are at work for more hours? But we do expect businesses to be open in the US whenever we want to talk to someone.
We have such a mania for working!
