3237 - Population distribution

Well here's an interesting map of the world showing the population distribution by the top 50% and the rest. Seems that the population of the world is concentrated. Very concentrated.

I found several articles (1 and 2) for more info on this.

I guess this means that when climate change kicks in big time there's plenty of places for people to go. Or not.

What's the densest place on earth? The middle of Cairo where a nine square mile area has 1 million people living. But when you look at the area that is Bangladesh it's solid yellow. And a lot of it is right at sea level. That's a lot of people that will be looking for new places to live.

Where I live is 600 feet above sea level (at this time). Maybe I need to invest in a boat.

Oh my! A population explosion in Africa! That will contribute to the strain of health and nutrition there.

A number of years ago I saw predictions of California being a good deal under water. Interesting post this morning, Mike!

Very interesting. I knew population distribution was lopsided, but this surprised me.
