I used to bowl a lot. I knew the guy that ran the pro shop at a particular bowling establishment. He would 'always' talk about 'bowling balls'. He would never just say anything that could be turned into a joke like the following.
He had heard so many ball jokes that if you tried what you thought was a new one on him he would just stare at you then go back to what he was doing before you interrupted him.
And yes, I would wipe my balls every time I was going to use them.
